AAP's Governance - Feat or Fiasco

The political parties which considered AAP as the 'underdog' were taken aback when Delhi Assembly election results were announced on 9th December, 2013 and the Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party secured 28 seats (well at that moment they won 28 only, Binny left afterwards) and stormed their way into to Vidhan Sabha to take up the task of forming the government - a government by the people, of the people and for the people. However this elected government tenure was short-lived and lasted for just 49 days.

A look back at what the AAP Government did in this short period is worth mentioning before categorizing it as a fiasco or a win over the traditional politics this country is used to. So lets take a look at the steps and laws enacted by the Arving Kejriwal led Government :

i.  MANIFESTO :- The manifesto of AAP promised 20 kilo litres of free water(666.66 litres     everyday) to every household in the state.
REALITY CHECK :- 2 days after coming into power the AAP Government announced 667 litres of free water to every household in Delhi having a valid connection.
CONTROVERSY :- Well people say they said every household was promised and they gave free water only to households with valid connection. Decide yourself.

ii. MANIFESTO :- Electricity bills will be slashed by almost 50% by ordering audit of the discoms and rectifying of inflated electricity bills and checking of meters by independent organization. Those not cooperating their license would be cancelled.
REALITY CHECK :- Electricity prices slashed by 50% by providing subsidy and ordering audit of the discoms. Also IIT-Delhi and Delhi Technological University called upon for checking of electricity meters.
CONTROVERSY :- Why subsidy is being given they should slash down prices.
CLARIFICATION :- Audit would have revealed the reality of the 'loss incurrence' by discoms and then the price would have automatically come down.

iii. 90% reservation in colleges fully funded by Delhi Government.

iv. Anti-Corruption helpline and turning each phone into a sting operation instrument.

v.Claiming Delhi needs jobs, Kejriwal scraps nod to FDI in retail.

vi. 27352524 - Nursery Admission Helpline activated.

vii. Opens up CWG scam files.

viii. SIT probe in 1984 sikh riots.

ix. Not driven by lust for power AAP government resigns accounting for non compliance by the other sitting parties on issue of Jan Lokpal Bill.

49 days and several points worth applauding. No other government in the country has forced the politicos to question the hefty money spent on their security and VIP culture. He bacame a symbol of an ordinary citizen in a short span of time. He went on dharna even as CM while he could have rested comfortably in his new found regime. For the first time someone was able to raise voice against the richest man in the country and business tycoon Mr. Mukesh Dhirubhai Ambani.

Yet media coverage has been constantly defaming and tainting his image. Thanks to social media platforms that people get to know the reality.

Moreover people who say he is ambitious and is doing all this for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. Why was he so adamant on getting the Lokpal passed before the session was over and why he didn't wait till the next session after the General Elections. Because this is the time to strike every chord as political parties are under a close watch of the people and are accounted for every activity. After elections no one will care what AAP is doing as for the next 5 years they would be safe. This is the real reason he was hell-bent on getting passed the Lokpal.

For people who say that Arvind Kejriwal acted like an anarchist and he is a quitter have to realize he resigned with a hope that people understand and relate to his dream of clean politics and vote for him and they would bounce back even stronger than before.

Had he wanted to escape he would have not filed a petition against the implementation of President's Rule in Delhi. So i urge the citizens of Delhi and India as a whole to understand that it is the projection by the media and political leaders in the wrong light which has led us into thinking that AAP had no governance and acted irresponsibly. Decide for yourself if they deserve another chance and don't just follow blindly what the other parties want us to see.

(A NEW STATE was created in the total blackout of the official broadcast and a bill was not allowed to be even discussed in the light of day. Anarchist Kejriwal - Really?)
